Skerry Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Skerry handles information in its iPhone and iPad app, TestFlight beta, public beta pages, and voluntary support channels.
Summary
Skerry has no advertising, behavioral tracking, product-analytics SDK, cloud account, or cloud synchronization service. SSH credentials and terminal content are not synced to UnFergettable Designs.
Skerry sends limited, content-free diagnostics and sampled performance traces to a publisher-managed Sentry service so failures can be fixed. The app is configured not to send terminal payloads, commands, credentials, host or session identifiers, screenshots, view hierarchies, breadcrumbs, HTTP contents, session replay, or native crash-memory captures.
Information stored on your device
Skerry stores host profiles, workspace layout, preferences, and local state needed to restore the app. Credentials and managed or imported private keys are stored in Apple's Keychain. Credential references, not secret values, are kept in the workspace model.
You can remove hosts and credentials in Skerry. Deleting the app removes its local container. Keychain items can survive app deletion, so remove Skerry-managed credentials in the app before deleting it when possible.
SSH and file-transfer traffic
When you connect, Skerry communicates directly with the SSH server you chose. The server and its network operator may receive information ordinarily required for SSH, including your network address, username, authentication exchange, terminal traffic, and uploaded files. That traffic is controlled by you and the server operator; it is not routed through a Skerry service.
Tailscale SSH authentication may open Tailscale-controlled pages or services. Their handling of information is governed by Tailscale's policies.
Dictation, photos, files, and notifications
Developer dictation requires microphone and speech-recognition permission and requires on-device recognition. Unsupported on-device recognition fails closed. Skerry does not upload dictation audio or transcripts to the publisher.
Files or photos you explicitly select are transferred directly to the SSH server you selected. Skerry does not retain a publisher-side copy.
Skerry's attention notifications are local. They contain fixed status text and the local host label you chose, not terminal output or remote-controlled titles.
Diagnostics collected by the beta
When a valid diagnostic endpoint is configured, Skerry may send:
- app version, build, environment, and standard device/OS diagnostic context;
- random event and trace identifiers that are not tied to a Skerry account;
- error type and privacy-scrubbed stack information; and
- a small sample of timing and performance traces used to diagnose reliability and speed.
This information is used only for app functionality, security, reliability, and performance. It is not used for advertising, marketing profiles, or tracking. The configuration disables default PII, user information, request data, logs, breadcrumbs, screenshots, view hierarchy, replay, network capture, native crash-memory inspection, and automatic session tracking.
Diagnostic events are retained for no more than 90 days on the publisher-managed Sentry server in Arizona, United States, then deleted or anonymized. The diagnostic endpoint necessarily receives a source network address while accepting an event. Skerry does not attach it as user identity, and UnFergettable Designs does not use diagnostic transport information for advertising, tracking, or user profiles.
TestFlight and voluntary feedback
Apple processes TestFlight enrollment, installation, session, crash, and feedback information under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. If you submit TestFlight feedback, Apple may provide UnFergettable Designs with your comment, screenshot, contact information when available, device and OS details, app version, connection type, and diagnostic context shown by TestFlight.
Do not include credentials, private keys, production terminal output, hostnames, IP addresses, customer data, or other secrets in feedback. Voluntary support messages are retained only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the issue, handle security follow-up, and maintain a non-sensitive bug record.
Beta signup and public pages
A beta application may include your email address, optional name or social handle, device and OS family, keyboard and network categories, terminal workflow, and consent to beta communication. It must not contain connection details, terminal content, or credentials. Rejected applications are deleted within 90 days after the relevant cohort closes unless you separately agree to remain on a future waitlist.
UnFergettable Designs hosts this public site on its Coolify-managed server, which necessarily processes ordinary web requests. The application uses Tally, which processes the form response under its privacy terms. The public pages do not install advertising pixels, session replay, or product analytics.
Sharing
UnFergettable Designs does not sell personal information or share app information for advertising or cross-app tracking. Information may be processed by Apple for TestFlight/App Store distribution, by the publisher-managed Sentry service for the limited diagnostics above, and by UnFergettable Designs' Coolify-managed server or Tally for the public pages and application form. Service providers must protect the information consistently with this policy and applicable law.
Your choices and deletion
You can deny microphone, speech-recognition, photo, or notification permissions in iOS Settings; related features will be unavailable or limited. You can stop diagnostic transmission by discontinuing the beta and deleting the app.
Skerry has no publisher-hosted user account. To request deletion of identifiable signup, support, or diagnostic information, email john.ferguson@unfergettabledesigns.com with enough detail to locate the record without sending terminal or credential data. Some diagnostics may not be linkable to a person and therefore may not be individually retrievable.
Children
Skerry is a developer tool and is not directed to children under 13.
Changes
Material changes will be posted at this URL with a revised effective date. If a change materially expands collection, the App Store privacy answers and this policy will be updated before distribution.
